Arts Ottawa Awards

Historically, at this time of year, the former organization, Ottawa Arts Council, would issue a call to applicants for a springtime award ceremony. Given our transition with the merger, that timeline needs to be moved to later in the year. We also see this shift as a coveted opportunity: Ottawa Arts Council has hosted these awards for 35 years, and we believe it's time to reflect and adapt to the value in today's arts and culture sector. This shift in timing offers us the time to secure community feedback on the program. And, as with our merger process (and in line with the new governance model with Arts Ottawa) the community's voice, and those of our invested partners, will be asked to help us shape its new vision.
We would value your participation at our February edition of Open Office Hours, taking place online on February 28th from 12 pm-1 pm to reflect on the awards' impact, explore how they align with today’s arts sector, and co-design the next chapter of Arts Ottawa’s awards.
TIMELINE
In February we'll announce a community co-design of Arts Awards. This will include a survey and call for interest in participating in the conversation.
On February 28 you're invited to attend the Open Office Hours online discussion on the future of the Arts Awards
From March-June we'll take those findings and host interest-holder roundtables and potential learning labs and co-design the next chapter of Arts Ottawa’s awards.
In August, we'll report the results of the community co-design process and our collective decisions on the 2025 award process
We are holding space for an event in the fall as a potential awards date.
Your opinions and feedback will be instrumental in our better understanding of how things should move forward. This is your chance to help shape the future of arts recognition in Ottawa.
