“Une Femme En Vaut Deux” is a research-driven art and educational project exploring mixed-identity representation in predominantly white educational spaces. The title, roughly translated as “One Woman Worth Two” or “Strong as Two People,” reflects the artist’s Métis-Japanese-Canadian identity and the ways these cultural identities intersect. The project consists of five educational posters that introduce researched histories, knowledge, and perspectives connected to the artist’s heritage and subjects they would have valued learning about as a student. Designed to be both visually engaging and accessible, each poster includes a QR code linking to a free digital download, additional information, and references, allowing educators, students, and community members to print and display the artwork. The project is rooted in the idea of “free, culturally considerate, educational art,” and printed posters have previously been donated to community associations and Indigenous organizations.

Alongside the five posters are original illustrations exploring the connections between the artist’s Métis and Japanese-Canadian identities, particularly the similarities in philosophies concerning nature and community. Together, the educational posters and personal illustrations create an engaging display for audiences of different ages and backgrounds, with the goal of encouraging representation, curiosity, cultural understanding, and greater access to educational artwork.
